Calvin Powell joined the Lincoln football team as the tight end coach in 2025.
Powell has spent 17 years coaching football, most recently serving as the head coach at NCAA Division III Maine Maritime Academy. He spent two stints working at Langston University, helping the Lion rank fifth in the nation in rushing and 12th in points per game as the offensive line coach in 2022. In his time at Langston, Powell coached 10 players who earned postseason recognition.
Prior to joining the staff at Langston, Powell was the offensive line coach and academic coordinator at Lyon College, where he coached six all-conference honorees. He additionally helped start the football program at Texas Wesleyan and had stints working at SUNY Maritime, Northeastern Oklahoma University, and at two high schools: Green Hill and St. Michael's Catholic.
In his first collegiate coaching role, Powell worked as a graduate offensive assistant at Temple University, helping lead the Owls to an appearance in the Boca Raton Bowl. Powell helped Temple achieve its first-ever 10-win season and earn a berth in the inaugural American Athletic Conference championship game.
Powell holds a bachelor's degree in sports management from Southwestern College and a master's degree in educational leadership from Langston University.
