Women's Golf Concludes Spring Season Finishing Sixth at the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The Lincoln University women’s golf team wrapped up the spring season at the 24th PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship Sunday, finishing sixth out of seven teams at the Ryder Course.
The Blue Tigers, playing a full three rounds, finished with a 1,041 (366-339-336), coming within 18-strokes off fifth-place Alabama State. Bethune-Cookman took the title with an 885, tallying a 295 in each round, as they also had the individual winner in Kim Wong, as she fired a 216 to win by three-strokes.
Freshman Brittany Smith consistently trimmed shots off her first-day score of 94 to finish with a 252 after a second round 80 and final round 78 to land in 19th to lead Lincoln.
Freshmen Shea Colley and Kaitlyn Schwartze finished in 20th and 21st respectively behind Smith, as Colley shot the second-best second round on the team of an 82 to help her finish with a 255 (90-82-83), while Schwartze stayed in the 80’s the entire championships to end up with a 258 (87-84-87).
Rounding out the scoring for the Blue Tigers, freshman Hannah Sprague, like Smith, improved on her score in each round after the first to end up with a 276 (95-93-88) to end in a tie for 25th.
