JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University head football coach Nathan Cochran and assistant coach Glenn Reese were chosen to attend two coaching academy workshops this offseason.
Reese, Running Backs coach and Video Coordinator, was one of 30 minority coaches chosen for the NCAA Football Coaches Academy (FCA) this is currently taking place in Indianapolis, Ind., and will run through this Thursday, May 27. The FCA is designed to improve and reinforce various aspects of securing, managing and excelling in head football coaching positions at the intercollegiate level.
Recognized football coaches, leaders in athletics and higher education will serve as faculty for the three-day workshop. To be a participant, you must have three-to-eight years of collegiate coaching experience. This coming season marks Coach Reese’s fifth season as a college coach and his second at Lincoln University.
“I am very excited for Glenn to get this opportunity with the NCAA Football Coaching Academy,” Cochran said. “I had an opportunity to participate in this academy four years ago and I felt like it helped me prepare for this position at Lincoln University. I am honored that one of my assistants was chosen for this opportunity, as he is a hard worker and will make a wonderful Head Coach some day.”
Coach Cochran has also been chosen to attend the NCAA’s “Expert Coaches Forum.” The Expert Coaches Forum (ECF) is designed to improve and reinforce various aspects of securing, managing and excelling in head football coaching positions at the intercollegiate level.
Recognized football coaches, leaders in athletics and higher education will serve as faculty for the three-day workshop. The ECF will take place June 22-24, 2010 in conjunction with the NACDA Convention in Anaheim, Calif. Coaches must have at least eight years of collegiate coaching experience to be chosen for the ECF. This coming season marks Coach Cochran’s ninth collegiate season, eleventh overall, and his second season at Lincoln University as the Head Football Coach.

It is truly an honor to be chosen by the NCAA for this program, as there are so many qualified minority coaches who apply for these opportunities every year.”
