EMPORIA, Kan. – The Lincoln University track and field teams closed the outdoor regular season with a pair of provisional marks, as well as three first-place finishes over the weekend at the Emporia State Last Chance Twilight Qualifier.
On the women’s side, Tia Rolle had no problems cruising to first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.22 seconds, holding off Southwest Baptist’s Jasmine Sanford’s time of 12.49. Rolle tallied a provisional mark in the 200-meter dash, as she also won that event with a time of 24.70. Teammate Anna Kay Campbell raced across second with a time of 24.81.
Kenisha Jones added to the provisional marks in the 400-meter hurdles, as she easily took the top spot with a time of 1:01.61. Morgan Shelton of West Texas A&M was the next one across, but she was over two seconds behind with a finished time of 1:03.90.
Kimberly Hodges finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.65-meters, but the distance was enough to record a provisional mark, as Truman State’ Jennifer Zweifel won the event with a jump of 12.05m.
On the men’s side, Mandela Clifford came close to pulling out the top finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.68, but ended up second as Emporia State’s Josh Schuler posted the top time of 10.64.
Jean Nougues was also within range of the top spot in the 400-meter dash, racing across second with a time of 49.65, while William Jewell’s Clint Ederer grabbed the event with a time of 48.14.
Lincoln will now prepare for the 2010 Outdoor National Championships that will take place Thursday, May 27 and run through Saturday, May 29 at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, North Carolina.
