JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University women’s basketball head coach Katie Vaughn announced the signings of three new recruits Wednesday.
Donisha Bronnon, Vivian Essuon and Marcella Sedoc have all signed on to join the Blue Tigers in 2010-11. With the additional signings, Lincoln now has five new recruits, counting Jackeya Mitchell and Bria Dillard that were signed during the ear
ly signing period. Those five will be joining the three returning Blue Tigers in Cherakie Barrett, Terika Adams and Cara Thomas.
Bronnon comes from Clarendon College in Clarendon, Tex., where she led the team in scoring per game (11.4), while adding 46 steals and 7.9 rebounds per game in playing all 30 games. The 5-foot-11 forward from Pasadena, Tex., also shot 47 percent from the field in helping the team to an 18-12 overall record last season.
“Donisha brings a lot of athleticism to the post area, as well as the experience of being a transfer,” Vaughn said. “She will be hard to match-up with because of her versatility and ability to play both inside and out.”
Essuon played in 15 games last year at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Mo., compiling a 30 percent field goal percentage, as well as 81 total points. The 6-foot center from Brampton, Ontario will look to bring her size and strength to the block for the Blue Tigers.
“Vivian is going to bring size to the post area,” Vaughn said. “She is very fundamental and her ability to use her strength will be a big factor on the block.”
Sedoc posted the second-highest per game average in points at 12.3 while playing at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kan., last season. The 5-foot-6 point guard from Paramaribo, Suriname played in all 31 games and was almost even in assists per game (3.3), as she was in steals per game (3.1).
“Marcella is a very mature and disciplined player,” Vaughn said. “Her ability to handle the ball and distribute it effectively will benefit our transition game drastically. She is also very strong and can handle pressure and make plays when needed to.”
Lincoln finished the season 12-15 and qualified for the Heartland Conference Tournament for the first time in five years.
