Women's Golf Finishes Seventh in First Spring Tournament

Freshman Brittany Smith paced Lincoln with a 179 (86-93), which placed her in a tie for 33rd overall.

LAVEEN, Ariz. – Battling through a few delays and darkness, the Lincoln University women’s golf team completed the Shootout at Aguila on Sunday, finishing seventh out of seven teams, as two teams did not finish, having to leave the shootout before it finished.

Lincoln opened strong with a 365 on the first turn through and finished with a total of 747, after firing a 382 on the final day. Drury University won the shootout with a 613 (306-307), as Missouri-St. Louis’ Clara Vila won the shootout with a 145 (70-75).

Freshman Brittany Smith paced Lincoln with a 179 (86-93), which placed her in a tie for 33rd overall. Freshman Kaitlyn Schwartze wasn’t far behind, as she posted a 184 (90-94) to finish in a tie for 36th.

Freshman Shea Colley was also within range of both Smith and Schwartze, as she carted a 186 (91-95) for a 38th place result, while freshman Hannah Sprague rounded out the Blue Tigers placing 43rd with a 198 (98-100).

Lincoln is currently in action today at the East Central Invitational that is taking place in Ada, Okla. Play was suppose to start Monday, but due to weather, everything was postponed until today.
