Sandahl Limits Softball to Two-Hits in St. Edward's Win
Softball

AUSTIN, Tex. – Paige Sandahl limited the Lincoln University softball team to just two hits, as St. Edward’s defeated the Blue Tigers, 6-0, Saturday afternoon in Heartland Conference at Diane Daniels Field.

St. Edward’s (14-10, 3-0 HC) broke through first with a solo home run off the bat of Miranda Yeager in the second inning for the 1-0 advantage.

It would remain that way into the fourth, as the Hilltoppers tallied two more runs, with one run coming on an RBI single and the other via a sacrifice fly for the 3-0 lead after four. St. Edward’s padded the lead with three more in the fifth, thanks to a three-run home run by Marissa Thome for the 6-0 lead.

Lincoln’s (0-5, 0-3 HC) first hit came in the second, as senior third baseman Brenda Siegler opened the frame with a single, but was later stranded at second. The Blue Tigers other hit came in the fourth frame, as sophomore shortstop Jessica Moore singled back to the pitcher, but wouldn’t advance past first.

Sandahl went the distance for St. Edward’s, striking out seven, while walking three. Sophomore Olivia Durrell also went the distance for the Blue Tigers, allowing five earned runs and eight hits.

Lincoln will jump out of conference action with a doubleheader on the road at Missouri S&T this Tuesday, Mar. 9 with gametime set for 1 p.m.
