St. Mary's Completes Sweep With Another 16-Run Effort
Baseball Rattlers

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Lincoln University baseball team ran into yet another offensive explosion, as St. Mary’s took the third and final game of the series, 16-1, Saturday afternoon in Heartland Conference action at the LU Baseball Field.

Following a scoreless first inning, St. Mary’s (14-6, 13-6 HC) went to work, tallying six runs over the next four innings, getting home runs from Jonathan Cisneros and  Greg Herbst to build a 6-0 lead after five.

The Rattlers would post three more in the seventh before Lincoln (3-15, 3-15 HC) got on the board in the eighth.

After a strikeout started the inning, sophomore pitcher/designated hitter Chris Pfau was hit-by-pitch and later moved to second on a single by junior shortstop/pitcher James Johndrow. Following a pitching change, a groundout advanced both runners up with two outs. Junior left fielder Gus Durst then delivered an RBI single to second base to plate Pfau with the Blue Tigers’ first run.

Lincoln tallied five hits, as around singles from Johndrow and Durst, junior catcher Brian Patrick, junior second baseman Joey Pate and freshman third baseman Greg Lawson all tallied hits, as well.

Lincoln will step out of conference play when they battle Southwest Baptist on the road this Tuesday, Mar. 9 with first pitch set for 12 p.m.
