Smith Snags HC Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week

WACO, Tex. – Stacey Smith (F, Sr., Lauderhill, FL) was named the Heartland Conference Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week Tuesday. Smith helped the Blue Tigers reach the Heartland Conference Tournament for the first time in five years by averaging 19.5 points and 10 rebounds in the two games this past week against Texas-Permian Basin and Oklahoma Panhandle State. Against the Aggies, Smith posted a season-high 28 points, while also grabbing 13 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Smith blocked six shots against OPSU for another season-high, as she finished with eight for the week. Smith also went 15-for-33 (45.5) from the field, including four three-pointers, eight assists and five steals, while averaging 38.5 minutes. Smith played in all 26 regular season games, starting 25, while leading the team in minutes played per game (36.8), rebounds per contest (9), blocks (32), steals (58), while also adding 33 three-pointers and 54 assists. The Lincoln University women’s basketball team will be in action this Thursday, Mar. 4 in the quarterfinal round of the Heartland Conference Tournament against St. Edward’s with tipoff set for 12 p.m. inside Bill Greehey Arena on the campus of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Tex.
