Lincoln sophomore Semoy Hackett was named to the Bowerman Preseason Watch List Thursday.

NEW ORLEANS, LA. -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Thursday the 10 female collegiate track & field athletes named to the official preseason watch list for the 2010 awarding of The Bowerman as selected by The Bowerman Women’s Watch Committee.

Lincoln’s Semoy Hackett (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) was the lone Division II representative on the list and one of only two sophomores, joining nine other Division I athletes.

Hackett was a four-time NCAA outdoor champion in her freshman campaign, winning the individual 100-, 200-meter double with personal bests of 11.18 and 22.95, respectively. In addition, Hackett was a member of the Blue Tigers’ 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams that took top honors at the NCAA Division II meet in San Angelo, Texas. Her 11.18 clocking made her the seventh-fastest collegian among all divisions in 2009.

Career bests:

100 meters, 11.18

200 meters, 22.95

Hackett has already had a strong showing this season on the indoor side, opening up the season with a pair of wins in the 60-and 200-meter dashes, posting times of 7.52 and 23.90, respectively.

Lincoln will return to action this Friday at Southern Illinois’ SASF Invitational (Carbondale, Ill.).
