Amanda Coffelt, left, and Clair Lorenz have signed on to join the Blue Tiger softball program.

JEFFERSON CITY, MO.—Lincoln University head softball coach Nicole Stacey announced the signing of two recruits Monday.

Amanda Coffelt and Clair Lorenz will join the Blue Tigers to add another battery mate combination to the squad.

Coffelt, from Prairie Home High School in Missouri, will look to help Lincoln both behind the plate and also around the infield.

“Amanda is a powerful leader out on the softball field,” Stacey said. “Amanda will be a catcher for us, but also I will work her into other infield positions since she has a strong knowledge for the game. We are excited to have Amanda apart of our program and I look forward to her success at Lincoln.”

Lorenz, from Pilot Grove High School in Missouri, finished up a solid two-year junior college career at North Central Missouri College, where she pitched in 50 games, compiling 166.1 innings and a 2.39 ERA to go along with a 16-8 record in 2009.

“Clair demands the attention and focus when she is out on the mound and that is what I am looking for in a pitcher,” Stacey said. “Not only does Clair have great movement on her pitches, but I also recruited Clair on her ability to hit. Clair has a great eye for the ball and is a strong competitor when she is up to bat. I am very eager and excited to see what Clair will bring to the Lincoln softball program.”

Lincoln will open their 2010 season with a pair of Round Robin games at Drury University on Feb. 6.
