Men's Golf Wraps Up Fall Season With 12th Place Finish

Junior Justin Watkins once again paced the Blue Tigers firing a 148 to finish in a tie for 16th overall.
DESTIN, FL. -- The Lincoln University men's golf team concluded their fall slate finishing 12th out of 17 teams at the Indian Bayou Classic that finished up late Tuesday.

The Blue Tigers tallied a 615 (308-307) finishing seven-strokes ahead of both Faulkner University and University of Montevallo, who each placed in 13th. Host North Alabama cruised to a 10-stroke victory over Valdosta State to win the Classic with a 572.

Junior Justin Watkins kept up the momentum from his first career victory last week at the Lewis Fall Classic to lead the Blue Tigers with a 148 (73-75) to place him in a tie for 16th overall. North Alabama's Brett Munson won the individual title with a 10-under 134 (69-65) to beat out Columbus State's Stephen Swanepoel by five-strokes.

Junior Kyle Brands trimmed four-strokes off his first round score to finish with a 154 (79-75) to finish in a tie for 39th, as nine golfers finished with a 154 for the Classic.

Freshman Dillon Maloney wasn't far behind, as his 157 (76-81) placed him in a tie for 59th overall. Freshman Dustin Harris and sophomore Josh Roller rounded out the scoring for Lincoln, as Harris was just one-stroke behind Maloney, finishing with a 158 (80-78) to place in a tie for 66th, while Roller placed in a tie for 80th with a 162 (83-79).
